Regulations
regarding
the
Admission
in
the
Bachelor
of
Fine
Arts,
Bachelor
of
Design
and
Bachelor
of
Architecture
and
Planning
at
the
Centre
of
Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
under
Section
5
(2a)
Act
No.
XXIV
of
1974
as
amended
through
Act
No.
IX
of
1976
for
the
establishment
of
Centre
of
Excellence
in
the
Universities.
1.
Short
Title:
These
Regulations
may
be
called
Centre
of
Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
Mehran
University
of
Engineering
&
Technology,
Jamshoro
for
Bachelor
of
Fine
Arts,
Bachelor
of
Design
and Bachelor of Architecture & Planning Degree Regulations.
2.
Commencement: These Regulations shall have come into force with immediate effect.
3.
Definitions: In these Regulations, unless otherwise stated:
(i)
“University” means the Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro.
(ii)
“Centre” means Centre of Excellence in Art & Design, MUET, Jamshoro.
(iii)
“Board” means the Board of Governors/Controlling Authority of the Centre.
(iv)
“Chairman” means the Chairman Board of Governors/Vice Chancellor of the University.
(v)
“Director” means the Director of the Centre.
(vi)
“Academic Year” means the Academic Year of the Centre.
(vii)
“Term” means a Period of 22 weeks of an Academic Year.
(viii)
“Teacher” means the Teacher of the Centre.
4.
Admission Procedure:
(i)
Applications
for
Admission
shall
be
invited
on
prescribed
forms
by
the
Centre
through
advertisement
in
the
Prominent
regional
and
National
Newspapers
as
well
as
on
official
website
with
full
schedules
for
the
submission
of
applications
and
the
details
of
the
Admission
and
Examination
are
specified.
(ii)
All
candidates
shall
apply
on
the
prescribed
forms
for
Admission.
Forms
are
available
at
the
designated
branches
of
HBL,
website
of
the
Centre
and
the
office
of
the
Director
of
the
Centre
on
payment.
(iii)
Out-station
candidates
should
add
an
extra
amount
for
Registered
Book
Post
and
send
the
money-
order
/
postal-order
/
bank
draft
addressed
to
“The
Director,
Centre
of
Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
MUET,
Jamshoro”.
(iv)
Candidate from all the categories should submit their Application forms in the Centre Office.
5. International Students
(i)
Foreign
students
can
apply
on
prescribed
form
and
should
send
the
appropriate
number
of
International Reply Coupons to receive the Prospectus by airmail.
(ii)
Application Form for admission of foreign students
Foreign
Students
should
forward,
their
application
forms
to
the
Ministry
of
Finance,
Revenue
&
Economic
Affairs
(Economic
Affairs
Division),
(EAD)
Government
of
Pakistan,
Islamabad.
The
applicants
are
to
be
nominated
by
the
Ministry
of
Finance,
Revenue
&
Economic
Affairs
(Economics
Affairs
Division),
Government of Pakistan, Islamabad.
(iii)
Eligibility of foreign students
The
candidates
who
pass
qualifying
examination
(Intermediate
all
groups)
/
Diploma
(three
years)
in
a
relevant
discipline
in
Annual
Examination
2018
or
earlier
up
to
Annual
Examination
of
2016
and
having
at
least
55%
marks
(grace
marks
will
not
be
considered)
in
the
qualifying
examination
are
eligible
to
apply
for
admission
to
the
Faculty
of
Fine
Arts
&
Design
at
CEAD.
However,
only
those
candidates,
who
have
passed
(intermediate
Pre
Engineering
Group)
/
Diploma
in
Architecture
/
Civil
Engineering
(three
years)
with a minimum of 60% marks (grace marks will not be considered), can opt for Architecture and Planning.
In
case
of
O-Level
and
A-Level
or
examination
from
foreign
countries,
the
nominees
must
have
Equivalent
Certificate
of
Intermediate
issued
by
IBCC,
Islamabad
/Karachi
without
Equivalent
Certificate
they
shall
not be considered for admission.
The
candidates
who
have
passed
the
above
examinations
or
equivalent
examinations
before
Annual
Examination 2016 shall not be eligible for admission-2018.
The
foreign
students
shall
be
required
to
appear
in
the
Pre
Admission
Test
to
be
conducted
by
the
Centre
for
foreign
students.
In
Case
they
do
not
clear
the
test
they
will
not
be
considered
for
admission
at
the
Centre.
Candidates
having
secured
less
than
30%
marks
in
the
Pre-admission
Test
shall
not
be
eligible
for
consideration
of
their
names
for
the
purpose
of
admission
in
this
Centre
on.
The
merit
with
regard
to
this category of foreigners will be determined as per policy of the Centre.
(v)
Admission/annual fee for foreigners
The admission/annual fee will be same as applicable to the local (Pakistani) students.
6. Equal Opportunities

Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
MUET,
Jamshoro
is
committed
to
the
promotion
of
equal
opportunities
throughout
its
educational
program
to
women
and
men
who
possess
exceptional
aptitude
and who have attained a reputable standard in general education before applying for admission.
7. Pre Admission Test and Interviews
(i)
The Centre conducts Pre Admission Test which shall be held in all the provinces of Pakistan.
(ii)
Candidates of Sindh (Province) take their test in the Centre office.
(iii)
Candidates
applying
from
the
other
areas
than
Sindh
(Province)
take
their
examinations
at
their
respective
capital
cities
such
as
KPK
(province)
take
their
test
in
Peshawar,
candidates
applying
from
Punjab
(province)
take
their
examinations
in
Lahore
and
candidates
applying
from
Balochistan
(province)
take their test in Quetta.
(iv)
The Centre conducts Interviews which shall also be held in the Centre Office.
8. The Eligibility Criteria
The
candidates,
who
have
passed
the
Higher
Secondary
School
Certificate
or
equivalent
or
Diploma
(three
years)
in
a
relevant
discipline
from
any
recognized
institution,
with
a
minimum
of
55%
marks,
can
opt
for
the
Faculty
of
Fine
Arts
&
Design.
However,
only
those
candidates,
who
have
passed
Higher
Secondary
School
Certificate
or
equivalent
(Only
Pre-Engineering
group)
or
Diploma
(three
years)
in
a
relevant
discipline
(Architecture
/
Civil)
with
a
minimum
of
60%
marks
(grace
marks
will
not
be
considered), can opt for Architecture and Planning.
The
Candidates
are
required
to
submit
the
attested
Photostat
copies
of
the
following
documents
along-
with
Application
Form
for
admission.

Certificate

2) Higher Secondary / Intermediate / Diploma or equivalent (Pass certificate)

9.
Rules and Procedures for Admission
9.1
Admission
(i)
Admissions
to
the
First
Year
for
all
the
degree
courses
are
made
according
to
the
policies
and
rules,
framed
by
the
authorities
of
the
Mehran
University
from
time
to
time.
The
rules
mentioned
in
this
prospectus
are
subject
to
revision
by
the
competent
authority
as
and
when
deemed
necessary
and
without notice.
(ii)
The
candidates
who
have
been
allowed
admission
previously
with
any
batch
by
this
Centre
of
Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
MUET,
Jamshoro
shall
not
be
considered
for
fresh
admission.
Their
admission
forms,
if
received
by
the
Centre
shall
be
rejected
without
any
notice.
However,
if
any
admitted
student
desires
to
seek
admission
in
any
discipline
under
Self
Financing
Scheme,
he/she
may
apply
for
the
same
and
submit
an
undertaking
on
the
stamp
paper
to
the
effect
that
he/she
will
not
claim
admission
under
Regular
Scheme
of
the
year.
Similarly,
if
the
admitted
student
under
Self
Financing
Scheme,
if
apply
for
admission
under
Regular
Scheme,
he/she
may
apply
for
the
same
for
which
he/she
will
be
required
to
submit
an
undertaking
on
the
stamp
paper
to
the
effect
that
if
he/she
is
admitted
in
the
desired
discipline
he/she will not claim the refund of the money whatsoever, he/she has paid with the previous batch.
(iii)
The
candidates
who
apply
for
their
admission
on
the
basis
of
fake
certificates/documents
(detected
before
or
after
their
admission)
shall
be
prosecuted
under
criminal
law
and
their
admission
shall
be
cancelled. Additionally, they may also be debarred for a period of three years for future admissions.
9.2
Eligibility for Admission
(i)
The
candidates
who
have
passed
the
Higher
Secondary
School
Certificate
or
equivalent
or
Diploma
(three
years)
in
a
relevant
discipline
in
Annual
Examination
2018
or
earlier
up
to
Annual
Examination
of
2016
and
have
secured
at
least
55%
marks
(grace
marks
will
not
be
considered)
from
any
recognized
institution
are
eligible
to
apply
for
admission
to
the
Faculty
of
Fine
Arts
&
Design.
However,
only
those
candidates,
who
have
passed
Higher
Secondary
School
Certificate
or
equivalent
(Only
Pre-Engineering
group) or Diploma (three years) in a relevant discipline (Architecture / Civil) with a
minimum
of
60%
marks
(grace
marks
will
not
be
considered),
can
opt
for
Architecture
and
Planning.
The
candidates
who
have
passed
the
above
examinations
or
equivalent
examinations
before
Annual
Examination
2016
shall
not be eligible for admission.
(ii)
Those
students,
who
were
admitted
to
any
other
institutes/universities
before
applying
for
admission
in
Centre
of
Excellence
in
Art
&
Design,
MUET,
Jamshoro
and
were
rusticated,
debarred
or
their
admissions
were
cancelled,
and
shall
not
be
considered
for
admission
in
the
Centre.
Additionally,
if
the
students
withhold
information
regarding
such
a
disciplinary
action
and
they
were
granted
admission;
their
admission
would
be
cancelled
immediately
after
ascertaining
such
facts.
Those
candidates
who
have
been convicted involving moral turpitude shall also be refused for admission in the Centre.
9.3
Application Form for Admission
Call
for
admissions,
is
advertised
in
the
prominent
regional,
national
newspapers
as
well
as
on
website
www.cead.edu.pk.
All
candidates
have
to
apply
on
the
prescribed
application
form
for
Admission.
The
forms
are
available
at
the
Admission-Cell
of
the
Centre
and
also
available
at
the
capital
cities
of
all
provinces
at
the
designated
Centres
on
the
production
of
Draft
/
Pay
/
Money
order
of
worth
Rs.
2500/=
in
the
favor
of
Director,
CEAD.
Candidates
can
obtain
admission
forms
from
the
designated
branches
of
Habib
Bank
Limited
(HBL)
through
out
the
country
and
by
post
courier
service
by
sending
a
draft
/
pay
order
of
Rs.
2700/=
addressed
to
the
Director,
CEAD,
MUET,
Jamshoro.
The
Application
Forms
are
also
available
at
the
Centre’s
Website
www.cead.edu.pk
Candidates
from
all
over
the
country
shall
submit
their
Application
Forms
to
the
Office
of
the
Director,
CEAD,
MUET,
Jamshoro,
by
hand
/
registered
post
or
a
courier service.
These
application
forms
will
be
scrutinized
and
the
in-eligible
applications
will
be
rejected.
After
this
scrutiny
the
discipline
would
be
awarded
strictly
on
merit
and
on
the
basis
of
available
quota
of
seats
in
each
Degree
Course
for
various
regions
of
the
country
against
which
they
have
applied
keeping
in
view
the
prioritized
choices
of
the
candidate.
Since
the
application
form
is
a
legal
document
any
wrong
information
provided
there-in
over-writing
or
tampering
in
any
other
way
is
illegal
and
may
result
in
rejection of the form outright.
The
Candidates
are
required
to
submit
the
attested
Photostat
copies
of
all
documents
along-with
Application Form for admission as printed on page # 04 of the application form.
10.
Pre-admission Test
(i)
The
Centre
conducts
Pre
Admission
Test
in
all
provinces
of
Pakistan.
After
scrutiny
of
test
score,
eligible candidates will be interviewed at CEAD, MUET, Jamshoro.
(ii)
Candidates of Sindh Province take their test in the Centre office.
(iii)
Candidates
applying
from
the
other
areas
than
Sindh
Province
should
appear
for
Pre
Admission
Test
at
their
respective
capital
cities.
Candidates
applying
from
Khyber
Pakhtoon
Khuwah
Province
take
their
test
in
Peshawar,
candidates
applying
from
Punjab
take
their
test
in
Lahore
and
candidates
applying
from Balochistan take their test in Quetta.
(ii)
The
Admit
Cards
will
be
collected
at
the
time
of
Pre-Admission
Test,
therefore,
the
candidates
are
advised to retain a photocopy of their admit card.
Candidates
having
secured
less
than
30%
marks
in
the
Pre-admission
Test
shall
not
be
eligible
for
consideration
of
their
names
for
the
purpose
of
admission
in
this
Centre
on
regular
or
self
finance
scheme, Special Scheme and Centre Support Program.
The
final
merit
list
of
the
candidates
for
each
category
will
be
prepared
by
calculating
the
over
all
merit,
based
on
the
marks
obtained
in
each
of
the
following
examinations,
multiplying
them
with
the
respective
weightage
and
adding
the
result
to
calculate
the
“Composite
Percentage
Number”
(CPN)
as
described
below:

candidates
of
Pre
Engineering
group
opt
the
faculty
of
Fine
Arts
or
faculty
of
Design
for
admission
in
the
Centre,
will
be
required
to
appear
for
Aptitude
Test
along
with
Compulsory
subjects,
with
the condition that their discipline will not be changed to Architecture & Planning at any stage.
•
The
candidates
of
Pre
Engineering
opt
the
discipline
of
Architecture
&
Planning
for
admission
in
the
Centre, will be required to appear for Mathematics Test along with Compulsory subjects.
11.
Interviews
The
Interviews
are
conducted
at
the
CEAD,
MUET,
Jamshoro
and
the
schedule
is
sent
to
the
candidates
individually
on
the
dates
as
announced
in
the
newspapers
and
also
on
website
www.cead.edu.pk.
The
candidates
are
also
required
to
bring
their
original
certificates
for
verification
particularly
the
following
Certificates.
1) Secondary School Certificate (Pass certificate showing date of Birth)
2) Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent or Diploma (Pass certificate)
3) Certificate with details of marks obtained (SSC-HSSC / Diploma or equivalent)
4) Domicile Certificate and Form B
If
any
document
is
short/missing
his/her
name
will
be
kept
in
pending
till
the
preparation
of
next
list
and
then
if
the
applicant
still
fails
to
submit
documents
then
his/her
name
shall
be
deleted
from
the
merit
list
without notice except those who have a genuine reason and submit the application.
If
a
candidate
is
selected
for
admission
his/her
Higher
Secondary
Marks
Certificate
will
be
retained
at
the
Centre for 1st year and subsequently to be returned.
The
names
of
those
candidates,
who
failed
to
appear
for
the
interview
before
the
Admission
Committee
on
the
scheduled
date
and
time
shall
be
deleted
from
the
merit
list
and
they
shall
not
be
considered
for
the admission. Thus their absence from the interview shall amount to forfeiture of their right of admission.
